What are we doing!

 Saving lives and giving hope

We are not doctors, but when we see  sick babies we take them to the hospital and pay for their treatment and care.

It's easy! We visit a camp, and in the course of visiting, a woman will appear holding a baby. She won't say anything, she just stands there. You ask her  "Com la tiene leit?" "Is your baby sick?" She says "yes". After inquiring, you find more sick babies. They inevitably have what we call MAD, malaria, anemia, diarrhea. If you are one year old and you have MAD you will die if you don't get immediate medical attention. The mother knows that her baby is in danger. She is frightened, but willing to accept our help. Our van sometimes has 20 people in it on the way to the hospital.    (We give them a ride home too :-))

(Our intention is to find ALL of the sick babies and give them a ride)

 Building energy saving cooking stoves

Our main forte is making energy efficient wood burning cooking stoves, called SixBricks Rocket stoves.

One half of the world cooks on open fires

Almost everyone in Northern Uganda cooks on open fires.

Our stove, the SixBricks Rocket Stove, uses one half of the wood and makes one quarter of the smoke of an open fire. A person who spends a great deal of time collecting firewood, traveling long distances, carrying the wood home on their heads, risking rape and death, knows our stove will help them, and they like it very much.
